Military members and their families enjoy an outdoor concert at Pope AFB on Saturday, May 9
“Performing on base has been a dream of the orchestra’s and we are so happy to finally see it come true” -- Linda Frenette, FSO Executive Director
An estimated 250 people gathered on the field
across from the Wing Commander’s Headquarters for an afternoon of complementary
entertainment by The Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, May 9.
“We are deeply grateful to Colonel
McDonald and his wife, Bonnie, for their hard work to make this possible as
well as the Fayetteville Area Chamber of Commerce and our generous corporate
sponsors.” stated Linda Frenette, executive director of the Fayetteville Symphony
Orchestra.
Special thanks to our sponsors Tom
Keith & Associates, Fayetteville Area New Car & Truck Dealers
Association, Moore Exposure and Coldwell Banker Commercial United Realty who
made this concert possible.
FSO Conductor, Fouad Fakhouri, treated
the audience to a lively selection of pops, classical and traditional patriotic
favorites. Fakhouri states that “it is an honor to perform for this deserving audience.”
The Fayetteville Symphony hopes to
make this an annual event for the military and it is just one of the many
community appearances the orchestra has made in recent years as part of an
aggressive outreach effort. This event was a part of Fayetteville's 31 Days of Glory, a month long celebration of Memorial Day during the month of May.
