Giving Tuesday

Update: Thank you for your interest in Giving Tuesday! We are incredibly grateful for all the support we’ve received over the last week. The window for matching funds has now closed.

This year we are partnering with Cumberland Community Foundation to participate in #GivingTuesday–a national day of giving that will take place on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024.

We are asking our donors to give local this year by donating through CCF’s Giving Tuesday catalog between November 25-December 4.

CCF has $525,000 in matching funds available, so donate and have your gift amplified! We would like to thank Cumberland Community Foundation, Fayetteville New Car Dealers Association, Elizabeth “Beth” Keeney, Carol and Sammy Short, Daphne and Ray Manning, Will Gillis, the CCF Board of Directors, and three anonymous donors for making this match possible.

Ways to give:

  • Credit card – Give $25 or more through the online catalog by clicking on the Donate Now button above between November 25th at 9am and December 4th at 5pm.
  • Check – Write your check payable to “Cumberland Community Foundation” with “GivingTuesday – FSO” in the memo.
    • Checks must be received by CCF no later than December 4th (5pm) to be eligible for a match. 
    • Mail checks to CCF, PO Box 2345, Fayetteville, NC 28302
    • Drop off checks at CCF, 308 Green Street, Fayetteville, NC 28301 using the secure mail slot located on the front, street-facing side of our building. This mail drop is accessed only by the staff of CCF.
  • Donor advised grant – Make your grant recommendation payable to Cumberland Community Foundation (Tax ID 58-1406831) and designated for GivingTuesday-FSO.
  • Stock gifts – Call Cumberland Community Foundation at (910) 483-4449 (Mary Holmes x103 or Mary Anne Brooks x106) for instructions.
  • Charitable IRA Rollovers – Donors 70.5 or older may make gifts directly from their IRA to Cumberland Community Foundation for GivingTuesday. (Your plan administrator must send the check directly to CCF. To ensure prompt gift acknowledgement, give CCF a call (910)483-4449 or send an email to Gifts@CumberlandCF.org to let them know the amount of the check, the name of your plan administrator, and which charitable organizations you wish to benefit.)

Featured Musician

Alison Mossey – Third Flute, Piccolo

After earning her bachelors degree from the Hartt School of Music, Alison Mossey relocated to NC to study at East Carolina University, where she earned her masters degree in flute performance.  A former winner of the Music Teachers’ National Association Woodwind Competition, Alison has also performed with the Chautauqua Festival Orchestra, the Champlain Valley Symphony Orchestra, and the Greenville Pops Orchestra.  Her teachers include Christine Gustafson, John Wion, Julius Baker, and Timothy Hutchins.  Alison currently performs as principal flutist of the Barton-Wilson Symphony Orchestra and as piccoloist the Tar River Symphony Wind Ensemble as well as the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra. She also teaches at the Music Academy of Eastern Carolina and at The Oakwood School in Greenville, NC.

The Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1956 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and is a professional, regional orchestra whose mission is to educate, entertain, and inspire the citizens of the Fayetteville, North Carolina region as the leading musical resource.  Praised for its artistic excellence, the Symphony leads in the cultural and educational landscape for Fayetteville and the southeastern North Carolina region.

The Fayetteville Symphony typically performs 8 concerts during any given season performing both at Methodist University and Fayetteville State University. Partnerships with other agencies include collaborative performances with Cape Fear Regional Theatre, chamber concerts at St. John’s Episcopal Church, as well as the city’s annual Independence concert with fireworks. The Symphony brings music to the schools and the community by performing educational concerts, as well as having its own Fayetteville Symphony Youth Orchestra, after school strings and summer music camps.
